Hidden Halo White Gold Engagement Rings
A hidden halo engagement ring offers something a traditional halo does not: restraint above, radiance below. This collection brings together Ecksand's hidden halo designs in white gold, for those who are drawn to a centre stone that reads as a clean solitaire from above and reveals its full luminosity from the side.
The Hidden Halo Setting
A hidden halo places a ring of micro-pavé diamonds along the gallery wall, beneath the centre stone rather than around its crown. Viewed from above, the ring presents as a refined solitaire. Viewed from the side or in reflected light, the encircling diamonds become visible, amplifying the stone's brightness without competing with its silhouette.
The distinction from a traditional halo is structural. A traditional halo raises a visible frame of diamonds around the crown, extending the ring's apparent diameter. The hidden halo recedes into the gallery, keeping the crown unframed. The effect is discovered rather than announced.
This setting suits a range of centre stone shapes, from round brilliant to oval, pear, emerald, and cushion, adapting its geometry to the stone rather than imposing on it.
Why White Gold
White gold's cool, neutral tone is considered for this setting. It directs attention toward the centre stone rather than the band, letting the diamond carry the visual weight. The crisp, bright finish compounds the already-intensified light return of the hidden halo, with no warm undertone to interrupt the stone's colour grade.
Ecksand works exclusively with solid gold of recycled origin, available in 14k and 18k. Each ring is finished with rhodium plating, which maintains the white tone's surface brightness and provides a layer of protection against daily wear.
Explore the Collection
The hidden halo white gold collection is available with a range of certified centre stones, in both natural and lab-grown diamond options. All centre stones are GIA-certified for natural diamonds and IGI-certified for lab-grown diamonds. Customization is available online and in both the Montreal and Yorkville boutiques for those looking for a truly personalized ring.
Round Brilliant Hidden Halo Rings in White Gold
The round brilliant is the most light-reflective of all diamond cuts, and it pairs with particular precision to the hidden halo setting. The circular geometry of the micro-pavé gallery mirrors the stone above, compounding radiance without introducing a visible frame.
Oval Cut Hidden Halo Rings in White Gold
The oval's elongated silhouette reads with exceptional clarity above the band. The hidden halo beneath adds depth and luminosity without disrupting the shape's streamlined profile.
Crafted in the Montreal Atelier
The precision of a hidden halo depends on the accuracy of the gallery setting. The micro-pavé diamonds must be placed along a recessed wall at consistent depth and angle; the margin for error is narrow. Ecksand's gemmologists and artisans execute this work in the Montreal atelier, where each ring is handcrafted from conception to final polish.
Creative Director Erica Bianchini approaches the hidden halo with the same structural rigour she applies to every setting in the collection: optical effect follows from integrity of construction, not the reverse. The geometry is resolved before the aesthetic is considered.
The Maison holds the Canadian National Mark, one of 108 certifications awarded over more than 40 years. All rings are produced from solid gold of recycled origin.
Hidden Halo vs. Traditional Halo
The two settings share a common purpose — to increase the perceived luminosity of the centre stone — but they achieve it through opposing approaches.
A traditional halo places diamonds visibly around the crown. This adds surface diameter, elevates the ring's profile, and creates an obvious frame that contributes to the stone's apparent size from above. The effect is immediate and pronounced.
A hidden halo places diamonds beneath the crown, along the gallery wall. From above, the effect is invisible. From the side and in angled light, the ring reveals a secondary ring of brilliance within the setting itself. The profile remains lower, and the silhouette stays clean.
Practically, both settings require routine cleaning to maintain light return, particularly in the recessed areas where debris can collect. For the hidden halo specifically, stone size selection is worth discussing with an Ecksand client adviser before committing, as the gallery dimensions affect which centre stone proportions best suit the setting.
