Made in Montreal, Canada

Every Ecksand engagement ring is shaped through a fully vertical process: imagined, engineered, and handcrafted within our integrated Montreal atelier from first sketch to final polish. This disciplined approach is the foundation of our craft, a sense of presence that feels unmistakably Ecksand.

It’s this commitment to true in-house creation that earned Ecksand the Canadian National Hallmark, a rare designation awarded to only 108 companies in its four decades of existence, affirming the authenticity, integrity, and artistry behind every jewel we’ve crafted since 2009.

Vintage Engagement Rings

Timeless isn’t just a look, it’s a feeling. Ecksand’s vintage engagement rings capture the character of antique design with the integrity of modern craftsmanship. From milgrain details to art deco-inspired halos and delicate filigree bands, each ring is rooted in historical influence and handcrafted with intention.

While the designs may nod to the past, the process is distinctly contemporary. Every vintage-inspired ring is made in our
Montreal workshop using recycled gold or platinum and conflict-free diamonds. The result: old-world elegance, built sustainably and transparently.

Our vintage rings are offered with both natural and
lab-grown diamonds, each customizable through Ecksand’s diamond ring builder. Whether you’re drawn to a radiant diamond, a timeless cushion, or a classic round brilliant, our builder lets you filter by carat, clarity, and cut, without the overwhelm.

These aren’t replicas. They’re reinterpretations. Vintage design elevated through Ecksand’s fully vertical process and ethical sourcing. From sourcing to setting, we manage every step in-house, ensuring quality you can feel and a story you can stand behind.

If you’re searching for a ring that feels storied but distinctly your own, Ecksand’s vintage engagement rings offer a connection to the past, and a promise to the future.

Common Questions About Vintage Engagement Rings

What makes a ring “vintage-inspired”?

Vintage-inspired rings borrow from design periods like Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco. At Ecksand, this means intricate detailing, milgrain edging, unique diamond shapes, and settings that evoke heirloom elegance, all made with modern durability.

Are Ecksand’s vintage rings made using antique materials?

No. While the designs reflect vintage aesthetics, all materials, including recycled gold and ethical diamonds, are newly sourced and responsibly crafted. This allows for timeless beauty without compromising on ethical standards or structural integrity.

Can I choose the diamond for a vintage engagement ring?

Absolutely. With our diamond ring builder, you can choose your diamond’s shape, cut, clarity, and carat. Whether lab-grown or natural, each diamond is selected for quality and matched perfectly to your vintage setting.

Are vintage rings practical for everyday wear?

Yes. While vintage-inspired rings may look delicate, Ecksand designs each one for durability. Our in-house team ensures every detail, from claw prongs to raised galleries, is built for lasting comfort and structure. Explore our craftsmanship process.

Are Ecksand's vintage rings made in Canada?

Yes. All of our vintage engagement rings are handcrafted in our Montreal workshop, where Ecksand’s vertical model ensures traceability, ethical labor, and exceptional quality.

What is the difference between a vintage-inspired ring and an actual antique engagement ring?

A vintage-inspired ring is newly made. Ecksand's craftspeople draw on the visual language of past eras — milgrain edging, ornate halos, period-influenced silhouettes — and render those details in recycled gold and conflict-free diamonds at the Maison's Montreal atelier. An antique engagement ring is an original piece, typically decades old, with all the history and condition variables that come with age.

The distinction matters practically. A vintage-inspired ring arrives with GIA or IGI-certified stones, a current craftsmanship warranty, and metal alloys built for daily wear. There are no unknowns around prior repairs, stone replacement, or structural integrity. The character of the past, without the uncertainty.

The Design Eras Behind Ecksand's Vintage Collection

Vintage design is not a single aesthetic. Each historical period left its own visual language, shaped by the materials of its moment, the technical capacities of its craftspeople, and the values of those who wore what they made. Ecksand's vintage-inspired engagement rings draw on three defining eras. Understanding what separates them helps clarify which character speaks to you.

Victorian (c. 1837–1900)

The Victorian era treated jewellery as a form of emotional expression. Rings from this period are warm and layered, built predominantly in yellow gold with ornate cluster settings, floral motifs, and stones chosen as much for what they signified as for how they looked. Coloured stones appeared frequently: sapphires, rubies, and diamonds in warmer tonal ranges set alongside rose-cut and cushion-cut centres in compositions that felt full and deeply considered. Creative Director Erica Bianchini draws on this tradition in the Blossom collection, where multi-stone arrangements and organic detailing produce rings that carry meaning before a word is spoken. Ecksand's cluster engagement rings are the natural starting point for those drawn to this period.

Edwardian (c. 1901–1915)

The Edwardian era introduced a new kind of restraint. With platinum and white gold newly accessible, jewellers of the period worked in finer gauges, producing open milgrain galleries, pierced metalwork, and settings constructed to dissolve around the stone rather than frame it. The defining element was light. Cool metal amplified diamond brilliance without competition, and every detail present was present with purpose. Ecksand's halo engagement rings and pavé-set styles reflect this discipline. The band is in service to the centre stone. The craftsmanship is most legible in what has been left out.

Art Deco (c. 1920–1935)

Art Deco brought an architectural sensibility to ring design. Where earlier periods favoured curves and sentiment, this era preferred symmetry, contrast, and structure. Emerald cuts, asscher cuts, and baguette-set accents became the vocabulary of the period, placed in platinum and white gold against grounds of precise pavé. The result was rings that read as considered objects rather than ornaments. Bold, geometric, entirely deliberate. Ecksand's emerald-cut styles and three-stone engagement rings carry this lineage forward, with the geometry of the era rendered in recycled gold and conflict-free diamonds at the Maison's Montreal atelier.
