Yes. As part of the redesign process, our team carefully evaluates each piece to determine which elements can be incorporated into the new design. Metals such as gold and platinum are not reused; they are responsibly recycled, and their value is credited toward the cost of your new Ecksand jewel. Precious gemstones may be eligible for reuse once they have been assessed by our gemologist to ensure they meet our quality standards and can be safely unset and reset. Any materials that cannot be reused but retain value will be applied as a credit toward your new creation.

Ecksand does not purchase jewelry outright. However, precious metals from existing pieces can be responsibly recycled and their value applied toward the cost of a new Ecksand creation. In some cases, gemstones may also be eligible for reuse following an assessment to ensure they meet our quality standards and can be safely reset. The first step is to get in touch with one of our client advisors, who can guide you through the process. Begin with an in-store appointment at our Montreal or Toronto boutique or a brief virtual appointment and coordination of shipping label for evaluation. During the evaluation, we will provide clear information on how the value of your materials may be applied to your new piece.

Yes, however it is necessary to contact Ecksand first before sending any jewelry or loose stones. A client advisor will guide you through the next appropriate steps and, when applicable, assist with obtaining a shipping label. Alternatively, you may book an appointment to drop off your piece in person at our Montreal or Toronto boutique. Once received, your jewel or gemstone will be inspected to determine its suitability for redesign or reuse. Whether you order online or stop by our Montreal or Toronto jewelry store, all Ecksand jewels are gift-wrapped in Ecksand’s signature eco-friendly packaging, the Ecksand certificate of authenticity, and any other documentation associated with your jewel (e.g. the number to your GIA report).
