Ecksand’s Warranty FAQs

Ecksand's Warranty Information

Does my Ecksand jewelry come with a warranty?

Yes, all Ecksand jewelry comes with a craftsmanship warranty that covers manufacturing defects, ensuring your jewelry maintains its beauty and integrity for life.

*The Craftsmanship Warranty does not extend to products included in Ecksand’s sample sale.

What does the Ecksand Craftsmanship Warranty entail?

The basics covered by the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty extend to all fine jewelry as well as engagement rings and wedding bands. The warranty covers all defects incurred during the craftsmanship process, i.e., craftsmanship defects. In order to be considered a craftsmanship defect, our jewellers must assess that in fact, this defect was a result of craftsmanship and not of normal wear and tear for example. If the damage to your jewelry is due to a craftsmanship defect, Ecksand will repair or replace the parts in question free of charge. In some circumstances, you will have to pay a fee. In exceptional circumstances only will Ecksand replace the entire item free of charge.

Please note that our Limited Craftsmanship Warranty is no longer available on Ecksand jewels that have been altered by companies other than Ecksand.

Are there any other services included in the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty?

Yes, for engagement rings, your first resize is free. For wedding rings and fine jewelry, one resize is offered within the limitations specified for each ring. In any case, the first free resize must be used within one year. Each jewel also qualifies for one free deep clean and polishing.  Ecksand offers additional cleaning and polishing services for a fee to keep your jewelry sparkling like new. Are center stones covered in the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty?

If a center stone becomes loose in the setting, the retightening of the prongs is offered under warranty. In the event that the prongs are damaged from an accident or misuse, fees may apply. We recommend insuring your Ecksand engagement ring, as center stones are not covered in the case of loss. If your diamond or center stone becomes loose, book an in-store appointment to see what Ecksand can do for you.

What is considered Wear and Tear?

Wear and Tear refers to the gradual, expected, ageing of a gold or platinum jewel over time due to normal use, not caused by manufacturing defect or accident.

Common examples of wear and tear include but are not limited to:

  • Dulling / Loss of Shine – Over time gold or platinum rings lose their original bright polish finish and become dull. They can be restored with a deep clean and polish in our atelier. The first polish is offered on all Ecksand jewels, subsequent polishings available for a fee.
  • Scratches – all precious metals scratch with regular contact
  • Deformation – Softer metals may slightly bend or lose shape under pressure or from a strong shock
  • Rhodium plating wear – White gold is plated in rhodium to give it a bright white finish. This plating wears over time leading to a softer, slightly more yellow tint to white gold rings.

What are the conditions I must meet to benefit from the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty?

The LCW is available only to the individual who directly purchased the jewelry from Ecksand. To benefit from the warranty and the services it provides, Ecksand requires: (i) a proof of purchase; (ii) that all prior services on your jewelry have been done at Ecksand. Maintenance, repair, upgrading, sizing, or other services performed by an individual or company other than Ecksand after your purchase from Ecksand will void the warranty. In order to maintain coverage of the Warranty, Ecksand requires a regular cleaning and inspection every year starting from the time of your original purchase. Book an in-store appointment to see what Ecksand can do for you.

Is the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty applicable to custom rings?

Yes, this warranty covers custom jewelry crafted by Ecksand, including custom engagement rings. However, if the diamonds or gems are provided by the customer, they won’t be covered.

Is the Limited Craftsmanship Warranty applicable to Ecksand rings purchased from a third party?

No, the warranty and services are non-transferable. This means that if you resell or purchase an Ecksand ring through a third-party marketplace, the warranty will not apply to the new owner.
