The Instinct to Create

Erica Bianchini's spirit has always drifted beyond convention. Her path into jewelry was one she forged herself – she didn’t come from a family of artists or jewelers. An outlier in her own right, she was drawn instinctively toward form, detail, and meaning by an internal force rather than environment or expectation. It is this same instinct that breathes life into each of her designs, drawing every piece into intuitive alignment with the wearer's story.

Craft With Conviction

Erica Bianchini, Creative Director of Ecksand, is redefining the contours of fine jewelry with a vision where aesthetics and advocacy converge. One of the rare independent jewelry Maisons, founded by a woman with designs still entirely shaped by her hand, Ecksand stands as a singular voice in the landscape of contemporary fine jewelry. Erica fashions a gentle luxury rooted in the rigor of Montreal's historic artisanal mastery, imposing a new definition of prestige where ethics elevate every creation.

From Vision to Reality

From the Maison's inception in 2009, Erica’s intuition led her to challenge established sanctuaries. She dared to look toward the digital horizon at a time when fine jewelry remained inside the exclusive, hushed domain of private salons and boutiques.

Rather than delegating this metamorphosis, she chose total immersion—teaching herself the rigors of computer code to build, line by line, Ecksand's first-ever digital showcase. By mastering every aspect of the user experience, she translated her aesthetic sensibility into an intangible environment, marrying the precision of the algorithm with the singular elegance of her vision.

In the Atelier

Erica’s discipline breathes through every pulse of the Maison; she is intimately involved in every link of the creative chain. Every day, she works alongside Ecksand's 3D artists and master artisans within the atelier — under the same roof as the Maison's headquarters and Montreal boutique. Here, under the same roof where creativity and savoir-faire flourish, innovative mechanisms and settings come to life, and Erica accompanies every piece until it reaches the precise equilibrium she first imagined.

Behind the Lens

Erica’s creative eye doesn’t look away after the final polish – it extends seamlessly from the atelier to the image. As a fully vertically integrated Maison, every visual expression of Ecksand flows from the same source as the jewels themselves. Erica personally directs every Ecksand shoot, developing each creative direction with the same intensity and passion she brings to the design of a jewel. Her discerning eye guides Ecksand’s in-house photographer, translating the artisan’s tactile labour into a visual language that is both precise and poetic.

"I design so that what is created lasts."

— Erica Bianchini

Ethics at the Heart of Matter

For Erica, ecological commitment is not a posture; it is the very essence of her work. The beauty of a jewel will always be inseparable from the integrity of its source.

This conviction places a demanding conscience at the center of the Maison, prioritizing solid gold of recycled origin, sustainable platinum, and diamonds selected for their impeccable traceability. It's a true reimagining of the luxury object in its entirety, favouring local production in the Maison’s own green atelier in Montreal, thereby minimizing the footprint of every creation.

Guided by Erica’s vision, Ecksand champions a circular approach to gentle luxury, where each piece is designed to transcend generations with a transparency present from the mine to the signature green box.

A Canadian Design Legacy

Erica Bianchini carries the ambition of elevating Montreal's fine jewelry to the ranks of the world's great Maisons — rooted here, defined by this city, and shaped by a vision that could only have come from it’s historic jewellers district. It is within this storied hub of savoir-faire that Erica has built a singular body of work — defined not by trend or spectacle, but by the conviction that a jewel, conceived with true intention, becomes something permanent. Aura, worn and reversed and worn again in an empowering ripple effect. Secret Heart, honouring a devotion held close by the one who knows what lies beneath. A Duel bangle, carried as a daily reminder of strength.

The Signature Collections

Aura®

The reversible mechanism at the heart of Aura is a testament to Erica's belief that a jewel should evolve with the person who wears it—technical ingenuity rendered in the most intimate terms.

Secret Heart®

Devotion, whispered beneath the surface. When Secret Heart debuted in 2017, it quietly transformed the engagement ring world. Its sculpted gold heart underneath the centre stone was so original that it inspired a wave of imitations across the industry. Because Erica was simply the first to imagine

Duel®

Inspired by the art of fencing, Duel was envisioned as an everyday suit of armor. Born from a deeply personal moment—a time when Erica herself needed a reminder of her own strength—the collection became her way of offering that feeling to every person who wears it.

Each collection is the distilled result of relentless refinement — of hundreds of ideas reduced to their most essential form, of mechanisms engineered from within the atelier’s walls until they feel inevitable. It is this obsessive attentiveness to the lives of those who wear her work that defines Erica Bianchini's creative vision, and affirms Montréal's place among the world's great jewelry capitals — not as an ambition newly declared, but as a legacy already in motion.
