Halo Emerald Cut Engagement Rings
The Architecture of the Halo Setting
The emerald cut is defined by restraint. Its rectangular step-cut facets produce a hall-of-mirrors reflection rather than the scattered brilliance of a round stone — a deliberate, architectural quality that rewards a discerning eye.
A surrounding halo of accent diamonds frames that interior stillness with movement along the perimeter. The contrast between the open table and the animated outer edge gives the emerald halo engagement ring its singular presence: composed at its centre, alive at its edges.
Creative Director Erica Bianchini approaches this pairing as a study in geometry and light held in balance. The result is a ring that carries presence without imposing it.
Choosing the Right Diamond for a Halo Setting
The emerald cut's large, open table makes inclusions more visible than in brilliant cuts. For this setting, a clarity grade of VS1 or above is advisable, and a length-to-width ratio between 1.30 and 1.50 delivers the proportions most associated with the classic emerald cut form.
Ecksand's gemmologists select each centre stone for how it performs within the specific setting, not in isolation. Every stone is GIA or IGI certified. Every setting is crafted in solid gold of recycled origin at the Montreal atelier.
Natural and Lab-Grown Diamonds
Both natural and lab-grown diamonds are available across this collection. Both options are GIA or IGI certified, and both are set to the same standard of craftsmanship. The choice of stone aligns naturally with the Maison's commitment to ethical sourcing and transparent provenance from metal to setting.
Metal Options and Band Considerations
White gold and platinum complement the cool, architectural clarity of step-cut facets. Yellow and rose gold introduce warmth that softens the geometry, shifting the overall impression without altering the structure of the ring.
Platinum is stronger than gold for prongs, making it a considered choice for a halo setting where the outer diamond band carries load. It is also durable for everyday wear, developing a characteristic patina over time.
The raised profile of a halo setting creates a natural spacing for a straight wedding band pairing. A curved or contoured wedding band can be paired with lower-set halo engagement rings where the setting may prevent a straight band from sitting flush. All rings are available in 14k and 18k solid gold of recycled origin. Platinum is sourced sustainably.
Crafted at the Montreal Atelier
Every emerald cut halo engagement ring in this collection is handcrafted in Ecksand's Montreal atelier, recognised by the Canadian National Mark. All settings are made with 100% recycled gold or sustainable platinum. Centre stones are conflict-free and GIA or IGI certified. Creative Director Erica Bianchini oversees each design, from setting height to halo geometry, as intentional decisions rather than inherited conventions.
