A first vow is made with young excitement. A second is made to someone you know completely.

Vow renewals mark that difference. They are not simply a repetition of the wedding day but a separate occasion with its own weight, chosen deliberately after years of commitment.

The jewellery that marks it should carry the same distinction. Our bridal experts have curated signature Maison designs to choose from in this guide; each creation is handcrafted in the Montreal atelier from solid recycled gold or sustainable platinum, set with ethically sourced diamonds and gemstones, and bears the Canadian National Hallmark.

Vow Renewal Wedding Rings: A Promise Made Twice

A vow renewal ring cannot, and should not, replace the original. It complements it, often styled alongside it, or perhaps for you it takes its place on the other hand. Regardless of how you choose to embrace a vow renewal ring, it should speak to what came after the first ceremony rather than what preceded it.

1. Timeless Wedding Ring

A clean band in solid recycled gold or sustainable platinum, shaped and polished by hand at the bench. Nothing about it asks for attention. It follows the line of the finger and lets the years accumulate around it, making it ideal to add to an existing ring stack or complement your overall look on another finger.  Shop the Timeless Wedding Ring.

2. Full-Eternity Oval-Cut Ring

Our experts find a favored direction for a vow renewal ring to be an eternity ring. An unbroken line of ethically sourced diamonds set around the full circumference of the band can symbolize an accumulation of years, or perhaps a commitment with no visible beginning and no end. Ecksand’s eternity ring setting is a fluid architecture allowing each diamond to reflect light and exude its brilliance, crafted to complement an engagement ring. The width gives it presence on the hand, and the continuity is the point. Shop Full-Eternity Oval-Cut Ring.

3. Channel-Set Diamond Wedding Ring

Diamonds held between two lines of solid gold, seated level with the surface of the band. The channel shields each stone from contact while providing brilliance without exposure. Stack underneath your bridal stack for a considered look. Shop the Channel-Set Diamond Wedding Ring.

4. Vintage Wedding Ring with Milgrain Detailing

Openwork detail cut and finished by hand, drawn from the ornamental vocabulary of early twentieth-century jewelry. The reference is deliberate rather than reproduced. A creation for those whose own history has already begun to accumulate. Shope the Vintage Wedding Ring With Milgrain Detailing.

5. Flat Brushed Wedding Ring

A flat profile in recycled gold with a brushed surface achieved with skillful finesse at the jeweller's bench. Brushed gold takes on a gentle patina through wear, gathering the marks of the hand that carries it. Shop the Flat Brushed Wedding Ring.

6. Interlocking Diamond Eternity Ring

Diamonds gathered into interlocking clusters around the band, drawn from the Blossom collection’s reading of natural form. The cluster setting gives the eternity band dimension and texture, with brilliance that shifts as the hand moves. Shop the Interlocking Diamond Eternity Ring.

Stackable Rings: What Came After

One ring marked the beginning. These mark the years that followed, added one at a time as the occasion arises.

7. Marquise Diamond Ring with Milgrain Halo

A marquise diamond framed by a milgrain halo signature to Ecksand’s Showcase collection, the beaded edge worked by hand at the bench. Small in scale and exact in finish, shaped to sit against what is already on the finger. Shop the Marquise Diamond Ring with Milgrain Halo.

9. Cluster Diamond Pavé Ring

Pavé diamonds set into a cluster that reads as a single luminous form. Worn alone, it is a discreet addition reminiscent of nature’s first Blossoms. Worn against a wedding band, it shifts the proportion of the entire stack into something unique and made to last. Shop the Cluster Diamond Pavé Ring.

Not every gesture belongs on a finger. These creations carry the occasion elsewhere.

11. Diamond Tennis Bracelet

From the Starlight collection, Ecksand’s engineered three-prong settings hold each ethically sourced diamond with the least metal possible, so the line reads as light rather than structure. Petite proportions keep it comfortable through long wear. Shop the Diamond Tennis Bracelet.

Why Couples Renew Their Vows

We know a wedding is planned for the marriage. A vow renewal is planned after it, with full knowledge of what the promise already given.

Couples mark the occasion for different reasons. It could be a tenth or twentieth anniversary. Perhaps the first ceremony was smaller than either of them wanted, or larger. Maybe a challenging period the marriage came through intact, deserving of a renewal of what was true to last. The circumstances vary and are entirely personal, but the shared element is that the promise is being made a second time by people who know precisely what they are agreeing to.

That knowledge changes what the jewellery is doing. A first ring is a symbol of intention. A second is a record of what happened next.

Materials Made to Outlast the Occasion

Permanence is a material question before it is a sentimental one.

Every creation is designed by Creative Director Erica Bianchini and made entirely within Ecksand’s vertically integrated Montreal atelier, from first model to final polish. Solid gold of recycled origin removes the need for newly mined metal without any concession in purity. Diamonds and gemstones are ethically sourced and offered in both natural and lab-grown, with full traceability.

The Canadian National Hallmark certifies that each creation is conceived and completed in Canada. Fewer than 108 companies have received the designation in over forty years.

Choosing Between Adding and Replacing

The first decision is whether the new ring joins the original or takes its place.

Couples who want the original to remain in service tend toward stackable rings and eternity bands that sit flush against the existing wedding ring. Metal continuity matters here, as a new band in the same gold or platinum will wear at the same rate and hold the same tone over decades.

Couples treating the renewal as a distinct occasion often choose a wider band, a different metal, or a design with no relationship to the first. There is no convention to observe. The original can move to the right hand or to a chain.

Complimentary engraving allows a second date, a word, or a private inscription to be set inside the band, held against the skin where only the wearer knows it is there.

Consultations can be booked at the Montreal Maison, the Yorkville boutique in Toronto, or virtually. Book an appointment.

A Chapter, Not a Repeat

The first ceremony announced an intention. The second confirms it, with evidence.
