Ecksand 10 Year Limited Craftsmanship Warranty
Last updated: January 2026
Although it is extremely rare for a craftsmanship issue to occur, at Ecksand we are fully committed to the quality, integrity, and longevity of every piece we create. This Limited Craftsmanship Warranty (“Warranty”) outlines the terms and conditions under which Ecksand will service or repair jewelry purchased directly from Ecksand.
1. Scope of Warranty
1.1 Coverage
All Ecksand jewelry—including engagement rings, wedding rings, and fine jewelry—purchased directly from Ecksand is protected by our Limited Craftsmanship Warranty. This Warranty covers manufacturing and craftsmanship defects only. When a defect is verified by Ecksand as originating from the craftsmanship process, Ecksand will repair or replace the affected component at no cost to the original purchaser.
Products purchased in Ecksand’s Sample Sale are excluded from this Warranty.
1.2 Assessment of Eligibility
To qualify as a craftsmanship defect, Ecksand must determine, at its sole discretion, that the issue is the result of workmanship and not the result of:
- Normal wear and tear
- Accidental damage
- Misuse, improper care, or impact
- Alterations or services performed by any party other than Ecksand
Issues determined to be caused by external factors or normal use will not be covered. Fees will apply to repairs not deemed craftsmanship-related.
1.3 Extent of Remedy
If a craftsmanship defect is confirmed:
- Ecksand will repair or replace the affected component at no charge;
- In exceptional cases, Ecksand may replace the entire item;
- In certain circumstances, fees may apply if the required work falls outside what is covered under this Warranty.
2. Exclusions and Limitations
2.1 Wear and Tear
This Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. “Wear and tear” refers to the natural aging of gold or platinum jewelry through ordinary use. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Dulling or loss of shine: Precious metals will naturally lose their high polish over time. (One complimentary deep clean and polish is provided; additional services are available for a fee.)
- Scratches: All precious metals are susceptible to scratching.
- Deformation: Rings may bend if subjected to pressure or impact, especially in softer metals.
- Rhodium plating wear: White gold rhodium plating will gradually fade, resulting in a warmer tone.
2.2 Center Stones
The Warranty does not cover the loss of center stones.
- If a center stone becomes loose under normal wear, Ecksand will tighten the prongs at no charge.
- If prongs are bent or damaged due to impact or misuse, repair fees may apply.
Customers are strongly encouraged to obtain independent jewelry insurance for loss or damage to center stones.
2.3 Alterations by Third Parties
Any maintenance, repair, resizing, upgrading, or modification performed by a non-Ecksand provider voids this Warranty in its entirety.
2.4 Third-Party Purchases
This Warranty is non-transferable. Items purchased second-hand or through third-party marketplaces are not eligible for coverage.
2.5 Customer-Provided Stones
For custom jewelry created with diamonds or gemstones supplied by the customer, the Warranty covers only the craftsmanship of the setting and structure. Customer-provided stones themselves are not covered.
3. Complimentary Services Under Warranty
3.1 Resizing
- Engagement rings: One complimentary resize is provided.
- Wedding rings and fine jewelry: One complimentary resize is included, subject to design limitations.
The complimentary resize must be redeemed within one year of purchase.
3.2 Cleaning and Polishing
Each jewelry piece qualifies for one complimentary deep clean and polish. Additional cleanings and polishes may be requested for a service fee.
4. Warranty Eligibility Requirements
To receive service under this Warranty, the original purchaser must:
- Present valid proof of purchase from Ecksand;
- Ensure all past services (maintaining, resizing, repairs, inspections) were performed exclusively by Ecksand;
- Bring the jewelry for annual inspection and cleaning beginning at the time of purchase, in order to maintain ongoing coverage.
5. Duration of Coverage
This Warranty is valid for ten (10) years from the date of original purchase.
During this 10-year period, coverage applies solely to issues that Ecksand determines to be the result of a craftsmanship defect. This Warranty does not apply to damage resulting from wear and tear, misuse, accidents, or external factors, regardless of when such damage occurs within the warranty period. Once the 10-year warranty period has expired, any repairs or services will be available for a fee.
Ecksand reserves the exclusive right to assess and determine whether an issue qualifies as a craftsmanship defect.
6. How to Obtain Warranty Service
To request an assessment or service under this Warranty, customers may:
- Visit an Ecksand boutique; or
- Book an appointment through the Ecksand website.
After inspection, Ecksand will inform the customer whether the issue is covered and provide an estimate for any non-covered repairs.
